STATEMENT: Road accident in Cambodia

It is with great sadness that Save the Children can confirm that four of our staff members lost their lives in a tragic road traffic accident that took place in Cambodia on Friday afternoon. A further four of our staff were seriously injured and are receiving treatment in hospital.

New EU reception conditions directive step forward in protecting children

Today the European Parliament, Council and Commission provisionally agreed on a new reception conditions directive as part of the Common European Asylum System. The directive sets out the standards for reception of asylum-seekers all EU member states should achieve. It is key to ensure that asylum-seeking children are safe and protected as soon as they arrive.
